PROCRASTINATION, THE THIEF OF TIME.
Okay, I guess this is not about me only. We all have moments of delays in life and failure to meet deadlines in time and it all bounces back to us. As I thought about this, a Bible scripture dropped in my spirit.
In regards to this reading, I always wondered how could Jesus make an incomplete miracle, of failing to open up the eyes of this blind man clearly instead, he ended up seeing trees walking around Ahhhhh. I later discovered that this was not by mistake for Jesus to make it this way, because immediately after that he asks the blind man" Can you see anything".But this was done for the blind man to see the original God's plan/revelation of man to be created like a tree Psalms1:3 to bear fruit. If you want to enlarge or increase there is a need for fruitfulness hence no room for redundancy and stagnancy.
Moving away from that, this also leads me to another story how I literally wondered how Jesus was disappointed and cursed a tree, which was never dry but so green and full of life but had no fruits, and yet he clearly knew that it was not the season to bear fruit but nevertheless he approached the tree with hopes of finding fruit in Mark 11:12-14.
This draws me to the picture of our lives as Children of God. We are planted as trees to bear fruits and through this fruitfulness, we shall expand and influence the world. And for Jesus cursing this tree yet he knew that this was not the season literally this meant that there is no season for a man to bear fruit in other words there is no season to fulfill God's divine plan and purpose for your life i.e it's not time yet, I cannot do it now.
This unveils procrastination, a common vice that we are all battling with, as we try to accomplish work based on our convenience. We all have those complaints saying, let me first finish my masters or Ph.D., then I will do it or I will do it when the right time comes. We keep on postponing and we have delayed and ended up letting God down. I had a friend telling me that after all there are no deadlines with some issues and we get behind the schedule and meet it up anytime.
We wake up every morning and ask for blessings for all kinds of issues in our lives but don't think of fulfilling purpose as our first plan for God. What eats my mind is that some of us are very sure of what we are supposed to do but keep on postponing, maybe thinking there are a season and the right time to do it.
As we are still fresh with our new year (2021) resolutions, let's not wait until we lose our relevance in life, lose our reason of living just as the Lord cursed the tree as he said no one shall ever eat fruits from that tree again in Mark 11:14.
This kept me wondering if procrastination is not about laziness, then what is it? Could it be about excuses even after we know what to do? This is not only in the spiritual case but even in our daily activities. Am sure there are lots of ways to avoid this habit as you check out online but the first and important step is to understand the reasons why you are procrastinating.
LESSON: Remember ACTION today can prevent a crisis TOMORROW after all the power belongs to you. GET TO WORK NOW.
