A DAY IN ROME...
Visiting in Rome for the second time comes at a chance during the Covid period(as you may realise how free the places appear in pictures), this comes as meet up with a friend, Deacon who has stayed in Rome for 5 years and this gave me a great chance for him to be my tour guide because Rome had become home to him. Kudos Deacon...
Just one day was enough for us to reach out to the most beautiful places in Rome with ease because there was no congestion due to the limited travels to Italy(Covid effect), this seemed more at an advantage since these places are always busy and congested on normal days. Take a tour with me here as you check out the best of Rome.
Colosseum(Flavian Amphitheatre)The Colosseum is a must-see attraction you visiting Rome as a great monument to the Italians. A historical structure built in 70-80 AD, it serves a great scene of military between gladiators who were contesting between men and animals, also various games were played within the colosseum.
St. Peter’s Square
As someone wishes to enter the Vatican, then you will have to go through St Peter's Square which holds millions of tourists and pilgrims who also gather within it to see the Pope as he holds prayers on particular days. Something adventurous about the walls of this square is the statues of 145 saints who can be identified uniquely with various features.
St. Peter’s Basilica
One of the most special places I visited was St Peter's Basilica, though it is quite tedious to get a chance to enter inside(it is free to enter but you will be checked as you enter wit tight securities) with the long lines of people, you definitely have to be patient or smarter and buy the (skip the lines tickets here!). As you enter inside you will have a great view of great designed altars and monuments with nice art of great admiration. Some of the famous pieces you should not miss out on are;
- The main altar built on St Peter's tomb
- Various funerary monuments of Popes
- St Peter's statue.

It is one of the most famous Fountain in Europe, with great statues which someone shouldnot miss out. Because of it nice scenary, it is a place well known for wedding proposals. Within the basin, there coins thrown in by people following a tradition which says you should throw 2 coins: one to make a wish and the other one to be sure to return to Rome.
